Yoga Instructor: Tori Queri
A Pittsburgh native, Tori is a 200 hour yoga teacher with an additional 15 hours specialized in yoga for trauma. She began her yoga journey in 2011 while living, studying, and working in London. The movements around the mat were just what her body was craving after years of hating the gym. It did not take long for her to realize her desire to become a teacher.
Tori returned to the states and received her teaching certification in Chicago, IL. From there, she immersed herself in the teaching world, crafting her own slow, steady, mindful style. She moved back to Pittsburgh in June of 2017 after 9 years in Chicago and leads classes at One Point One, Carnegie Mellon, and the Rivers Club. Nomadic at heart, Tori has been to over 20 countries and is elated to share yoga in the adventure of having fun and doing good.
Is this for me?
This is perfect getaway for folks who have never tried yoga, tried it and do it occasionally, or tried it and do it all the time. Basically, anyone who feels intrigued by yoga, enjoys giving back, and loves sunshine and ocean breezes!
Commonly Asked Questions:
I’ve never done yoga. Can I come on this trip?
Absolutely, 100%. Each yoga session is designed and taught for all levels. Part of the Have Fun, Do Good experience is stepping outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s trying yoga altogether or doing yoga differently than you typically do, this is a great time to get outside the box. If you’ve ever wanted to try yoga or learn about how it’s applicable to your daily life this is the perfect opportunity.
How often will we be doing yoga?
Yoga classes will be offered twice a day. The morning one will be like a cup of coffee - a nice jolt to invigorate the mind and body. In the evening, the class will focus on decompressing from the day and stretching out the body. There will be small exercises, such as journaling and discussion, to really dive into what yoga can mean outside of just moving around a rectangular mat.
“Yoga on and off the mat” - what does that mean?
A lot of the topics that come up in yoga classes can also show up in the day-to-day. This idea will be reflected throughout the trip - during yoga sessions, service projects, and spending time with others. Don’t expect to be a granola eating yogi by the end - unless you want to be! Expect to learn how yoga can improve all aspects of your life.
Will there be meditation?
You bet! Simple, easy to follow meditations will be a part of the experience. If you’ve never tried meditation, here’s your chance! It’s a lot easier to chill with the Pacific Ocean rumbling in the background than a big city.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Have Fun, Do Good does everything in it’s power to think of every little accommodation we possibly can. Though we’re a strong bunch, carrying multiple rubber mats is sadly a tough task. Please plan on bringing your own. If you need to purchase one, reach out and we’ll provide recommendations.
