Some of my fondest memories growing up were from time spent on the mountain with my friends. I taught snowboarding for two years during college and it was such a joy seeing someone out on the slopes for the first time. As most of you know, skiing and snowboarding is not a cheap sport by any means.
We wanted to provide an opportunity for kids who may not have the means to go to their local mountain for the day. We partnered up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh to put on a “Learn to Shred” day! Five Bigs and five Little’s from the program participated in the event. We spent the afternoon showing them how to snowboard. The event was an extreme success and we can’t wait to host another one!
A huge shoutout to Peak Ski and Board for donating all of the board rentals for the day. They are a standup crew! Thank you to Steel City Cotton Works for donating the “Learn to Shred” tanks for the participants. We couldn’t have done it without our stellar instructors. We are so grateful!
