Costa Rica

Surf, splash in waterfalls, and volunteer at a local school.

Add a strong sense of purpose to your ridiculously fun Costa Rican experience by centering it around giving back. You’ll arrive at our site in time for a sunset swim in the Pacific. In the morning, you’ll hang out with local students and help them with their art projects.

Pack your swimsuit, too, because then we'll go on a half-mile stroll to splash around at an amazing waterfall. Over the next couple of days you'll learn about leatherback turtles and their fragile ecosystem, learn how to surf, and return to base for any unfinished relaxing.

  • 5 days / 4 night accommodations

  • 3 Breakfasts and 3 Dinners.

  • Shuttle transportation to and from Liberia International Airport to Tamarindo

  • Transportation to all experiences

  • Your own photographer (AKA legit IG posts for weeks)

  • 2 volunteer experiences. A portion of the fee goes to the organizations. Fact: It does cost money to volunteer.

  • HFDG shirt and bandana

*All you have to do is show up. Our guides handle logistics, driving, cooking, cleaning, and comic relief.

We'll pick you up from Liberia International Airport and drive a short hour to Tamarindo where you'll get to settle in to our sweet digs.

Catch an epic sunset as you relax poolside with a cerveza.

We'll spend the morning with the kids at Credciendo Juntos.

Afterward, you'll get to hang splash and float at our favorite waterfall in Costa Rica.

DAY 3:

We'll kick the day off volunteering with the Leatherback Trust Foundation. If you're lucky, you may get to see a leatherback. No guarantees.

The rest of the day is spent beach-ing it up and relaxing.

DAY 4:

Make all your friends jealous who didn't come with you! Tamarindo is one of the best places to learn to surf in the world. We’re at a 98% success rate with folks actually surfing.

End the evening with a group dinner and a night out on the town!

We work with two organizations in Costa Rica.

Our first project is with a non-profit that seeks to promote culture, health, sports and education for children and teenagers and their families from poor backgrounds in the communities of Guanacaste, Costa Rica.

Our second project is with the Leatherback Trust Foundation in Playa Grande. The Leatherback Trust is an international non-profit conservation organization that protects leatherback turtles and other sea turtle species from extinction.

We don’t mess around with accommodations. You’ll be staying in a luxury beach house located in Langosta / Tamarindo. It’s just a quick few minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of town. Watch the surf break from the edge of the infinity pool while you sip your favorite drink.

While we encourage you to step away from your phone and computer, we'll have wi-fi for you to upload the occasional Instagram story to make your friends jealous!

I booked this trip 10 days before and I am so glad I did it. It was the best spontaneous decision! Meeting new people while exploring a new place and culture was amazing. Being able to be a part of the Cepia Organization and the Leatherback Seaturtle Trust Foundation made it so much more special! This trip was a stress free getaway with the addition of connecting with the Tamarindo community. Thank you and see you soon, HFDG!!!

I just returned from HFDG Costa Rica and I can't say enough positive things about the experience. The house we stayed at in Tamarindo was amazing. The team did a great job of coordinating volunteer events as well as fun group activities that brought a great sense of human connectivity. This was a very unique way to travel, and I'm looking forward to joining the Have Fun Do Good crew on another trip soon.

For me, HaveFunDoGood offered me one of the best experiences in terms of traveling. Being in my early 30's, it's hard to find time to travel with friends as many of them are married and some of them even have kids which makes vacationing a challenge. This trip offered me a chance to step away from the daily grind and vacation in one of the most amazing places in Costa Rica, all the while meeting and making new friends. I highly recommend this trip!
